The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) has reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for issues affecting the iTaukei community while continuing to promote the interests and wellbeing of all Fijians as preparations intensify for the 2026 General Election.

The commitment was made during the party’s Management Board meeting held in Vuda yesterday, where leaders and officials gathered to discuss SODELPA’s vision, priorities and election preparations.

The board reviewed progress made since the 2022 General Election and discussed a range of national issues affecting communities across the country.

Key discussions focused on economic opportunities, rural development, education, healthcare, environmental protection, good governance and policies aimed at improving the lives of ordinary Fijians.

“The Board also reaffirmed SODELPA’s commitment to advocating for issues affecting the iTaukei community while promoting the interests and wellbeing of all citizens,” the statement said.

Party leaders said SODELPA remained committed to ensuring that the concerns and aspirations of grassroots communities continued to shape the party’s direction.

A major theme of the meeting was the need for leadership based on service, accountability and respect for the people.

“Board members emphasized the need to remain connected to communities and ensure that the voices of ordinary Fijians continue to shape the Party’s direction.”

The meeting also focused on leadership development and the importance of preparing a new generation of leaders for future responsibilities.

“SODELPA recognizes that Fiji’s future will depend on young people who are prepared to serve with integrity, responsibility, and a strong sense of national pride.”

As the country moves closer to the next general election, party officials said SODELPA would continue developing policies aimed at addressing the challenges facing families, workers, farmers, businesses and communities.

The party said its approach would continue to be guided by the principles of democracy, freedom, opportunity, social responsibility and respect for human dignity.

“SODELPA remains focused on presenting policies and solutions that address the challenges facing families, workers, farmers, businesses, and communities across Fiji.”

The statement concluded by reaffirming the party’s commitment to building what it described as a stronger, more united and more prosperous Fiji.

“Together, we can build a future that honours our past while creating new opportunities for generations to come.”
