The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) has signalled the start of its campaign for the 2026 General Election, promising stronger leadership, better governance and greater economic opportunities for all Fijians.

In a social media post titled “The Campaign Has Begun”, the party said it was taking its message across the country as preparations intensify ahead of the next national polls.

“SODELPA stands with the people of Fiji,” the party stated.

“As we move toward the 2026 General Election, our mission remains clear — to deliver stronger leadership, better governance, and real opportunities for every Fijian.”

The party said its campaign would focus on engaging communities throughout Fiji, from villages and rural areas to towns and cities.

“From our villages to our towns, from farmers and workers to youths and elders, we are taking our message across Fiji because the future of our nation belongs to all of us.”

SODELPA identified agriculture, fisheries, forestry, tourism and renewable resources as key sectors that would drive economic growth and development.

“We believe the backbone of Fiji lies in our primary industries — agriculture, fisheries, forestry, tourism, and renewable resources.”

The party said supporting rural communities, protecting the environment, creating sustainable jobs and improving housing and infrastructure would be central to its vision for Fiji.

“By supporting rural communities, protecting our environment, and creating sustainable jobs, enhancing our towns and cities with more affordable and safe housing and infrastructure, we can build a stronger economy and a better future for the next generation.”

SODELPA also acknowledged lessons from its past political experiences, saying the party was now stronger and more united.

“We have learnt from the past, and today we move forward stronger, wiser, and more united than ever.”

The party outlined several commitments, including protecting the interests of ordinary citizens, strengthening communities, supporting farmers, landowners and workers, promoting renewable resources and sustainable development, and creating a better future for children.

SODELPA also pledged to reduce dependence on government assistance by empowering vulnerable groups to become self-reliant.

“Sodelpa will ensure the vulnerable are raised and assisted to become independent of government reliance — by doing this we give our people back their dignity.”

The party concluded by calling for leadership that understands and responds to the needs of the people.

“Fiji deserves leadership that understands, empathizes, responds and delivers.”

“Together, let us move Fiji forward.”
