The Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SODELPA) is entering a new phase of rebuilding and reconnection, according to Party Secretary Simione Rasova, who says the party remains “alive and thriving” despite years of challenges and political shifts.

Rasova said the emergence of the People’s Alliance had prompted “an unintentional yet significant transformation within SODELPA,” but the party is now focused on renewal and strengthening its foundations.

“We find solace in knowing that our rebuilding efforts and processes are now underway,” he said in a social media post.

“We have begun this journey by reconnecting with our steadfast supporters from the SDL era, particularly those who rallied behind former Prime Minister and Tui Ko Buca, Laisenia Qarase, who remains a symbol of our ‘Prisoner 302’ legacy.”

He added that engagement with communities — including Fiji’s largest informal settlement representing all fourteen provinces — is helping the party reaffirm its purpose and presence.

“Our outreach reminds us that Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua is still alive and thriving for the benefit and glory of its members and the people of Fiji who’ve called this country their home.”

He described SODELPA’s participation in the Coalition Government as “a pivotal step” in showcasing the party’s capacity and relevance.

“Since our formation in 2001, SODELPA has been realising its vision, and 24 years later, we are growing stronger, even amidst adversity,” he said.

“As we say it the SODELPA way — we keep building, they will come. SODELPA remains committed to its mission and to the people of Fiji, without malice.”
