THE Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) has appointed former Fiji Crop and Livestock Council chief executive Jiu Daunivalu as its new deputy party leader.

According to a party statement, the appointment was ratified by the party’s management board following an application and interview process.

Ms Daunivalu resigned from her position as chief executive of the Fiji Crop and Livestock Council to contest the upcoming general election.

She previously served as a senior civil servant, specialising in policy reform, public administration and institutional strengthening , including government and private sector boards.

SODELPA leader Aseri Radrodro welcomed her appointment, saying her experience in executive leadership, public service and board governance would strengthen the party.

Ms Daunivalu said she was honoured to accept the appointment and looked forward to working with the party leadership and grassroots members.

“I am deeply honoured to accept the responsibility of deputy party leader,” she said.

“SODELPA has a proud legacy of standing up for justice, democracy and the rights of all Fijians.”

Ms Daunivalu holds a Master of Business Administration, which she completed at the University of the South Pacific in 2006, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Management.

“The management board and our entire party executive are thrilled to welcome Ms Jiu Daunivalu to our core leadership team,” Mr Radrodro said.

He said her background as a chief executive, civil servant and board director would contribute to strengthening the party’s organisational structure.
