NEWLY appointed set-piece coach Gert Smal has reiterated that solutions to Fiji’s set-piece woes won’t be found overnight.
His comments come after the FIJI Water’s Flying Fijians lost six line-out throws in and conceded two tries from rolling mauls in their victory against Japan over the weekend.
Head coach Jake White and Smal have only had six training sessions with the team, and its still early days for the coaches to fully understand the problem and implement the required remedy.
The new look coaching staff will look to use the Nations Championship campaign to implement a few immediate solutions while assessing the team before introducing a long-term plan to address Fiji’s set-piece problems.
