A FILE containing a complaint against a former Fiji Sugar Corporation senior official allegedly went missing after it was lodged with the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption about three-and-a-half years ago.
This was the revelation made by incoming Sugar Minister Charan Jeath Singh during a recent interview with this newspaper at Mata-i-Labasa in Macuata.
Mr Singh said a complaint had been lodged with FICAC over what he described as an alleged corrupt deal involving the former executive.
“We had made a complaint about three-and-a-half years ago to FICAC, however, they had stated that the file went missing,” he said.
He said another file was subsequently prepared, but no charges had been laid.
If FICAC maintained that the original file was still missing, Mr Singh said another copy of the complaint and supporting documents could be provided.
He alleged that transactions had been identified in the senior officers overseas bank account, with money allegedly being transferred from Hong Kong and other parts of the world.
FICAC was approached for clarification on the complaint and its current status, however, questions to the organisation remain unanswered.
