South Sea Cruises Group has announced the addition of a second vessel to its Blue Lagoon Cruises fleet, as demand for small ship cruising in Fiji continues to rise.

The new vessel, MV Yasawa Princess II, is scheduled to launch in April 2026 and will operate alongside the existing M.V. Fiji Princess through 2026 and 2027.

Equipped with 22 modern cabins and upgraded amenities, the M.V. Yasawa Princess II is expected to boost capacity and enhance the cruising experience for travellers seeking an intimate exploration of Fiji’s islands.

Blue Lagoon Cruises, regarded as Fiji’s premier small ship cruising brand, will mark its 75th anniversary in 2025.

The introduction of the new vessel forms part of the company’s long-term growth plans and reflects the popularity of boutique cruising in the region.

South Sea Cruises Group said the investment in fleet expansion would ensure it continues to deliver high-quality experiences while meeting strong demand from international and local travellers alike.

The MV Yasawa Princess II is a new 45-meter catamaran vessel that Blue Lagoon Cruises is adding to its fleet to meet rising demand for small-ship cruising in Fiji. It will operate alongside the existing MV Fiji Princess, effectively doubling the company’s capacity for intimate voyages through the Yasawa Islands.

Capacity: The vessel has 22 cabins and can accommodate a maximum of 44 guests, allowing for an intimate and personalised cruise experience.

Design: It is a catamaran with a shallow draft, which allows it to access secluded bays and islands that larger cruise ships cannot reach. This includes tying up to a coconut tree on Blue Lagoon Cruises’ private beach.

Itinerary: For the 2026–2027 season, the MV Yasawa Princess II is scheduled to operate the company’s four-night itineraries, while the MV Fiji Princess will continue to host the three- and seven-night cruises.

Amenities: Following an extensive refit, the vessel features modern amenities, including:

Light-filled cabins with ocean views

An upper deck with a bar, dining, and lounge seating

A sundeck for relaxing

A hydraulic rise-and-fall stern platform for easy access to the water

Cruising experience: The new vessel is intended to offer the same exceptional Fijian hospitality, scenic destinations, and onshore activities that guests enjoy on the MV Fiji Princess.
