FORMER solicitor-general Sharvada Sharma has been granted leave to apply for judicial review against his termination on November 10, 2021.
The decision by High Court judge Justice Deepthi Amaratunga comes one year after he filed an application for the judicial review of six decisions taken by former president Jioji Konrote and the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
On September 20, 2021, Mr Sharma was suspended by Mr Konrote on the advice of the JSC, following receipt of a letter of complaint from (suspended) Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem.
Mr Sharma was suspended without pay.
The respondents in the matter were ordered to pay $5000 in costs in 21 days.
