SUVA-based St Joseph’s Secondary School (SJSS) manager Diana Daurewa says they are optimistic of their chances in winning and vows their swimmers will be out to do their best in the Fiji National Schools Swimming Championship.
Daurewa said they had put together a strong team of swimmers who were also members of swimming clubs in Suva.
“We started very late with our preparations. But the girls have been training from the last school term with their respective clubs,” Daurewa said.
“We started our training last week here at school but before that we did a few training sessions at the Olympic Pool in Suva.
She said it was challenging for them because they had to look for venues to train their swimmers because of the maintenance work that had to be done in their school pool.
But she has highlighted that despite the setback in their preparations their swimmers will be out to do their best in the Fiji National Schools Swimming Championship.
She thanked the support been given to them by their school, parents, their Allumni (old scholars) and the Home and School Association for their financial assistance. Also she added that their swimmers have a good sense of team bonding between which she considered as the backbone and strength of their team.
SJSS will be fielding a 21-member team for the two-day competition this weekend.
