The National Rugby League (NRL) Sydney Roosters representatives were in the country to scout for players in the Fiji Secondary School Rugby League (FSSRL) competition.

FSSRL schoolgirls coordinator, Vaseva Saulekaleka said the NRL Sydney Roosters representatives are here to scout for players in the competition as they are in partnership with the Kaiviti Silktails.

She said most of the former and current players are with the junior club teams and they have managed to pay a courtesy visit during last Saturday’s national quarter-finals.

“It means a lot to us, we develop players at schoolgirls level and another aspect is to properly have them scouted by NRL clubs during and at the end of the competition,” she said.

“Already FSSRL/W have developed some talented young schoolgirl players who have moved on to represent the national team for the Pacific Games last year.”

She said some of the players have also recently represented Fiji at the NRLW RISE Rookie Championship Program by the Pacific Aus Sports Development Programme that was held in Gold Coast, Australia.
