THE World Rugby Pacific Challenge competition gave a good platform to the Samoa A players to prepare for the 2019 Rugby World Cup (RWC) in Tokyo, Japan.

Samoa A captain Henry Stowers said there were abundance of talent players who could get a spot in the Samoa team for the 2019 RWC.

“It was a great game for Samoa,” he said after their 21-29 loss to Junior Japan yesterday.

“The match went down to the wire, but it was a good game overall.

“Most of the players are young. They are under-23 and it was good for them to experience the competition against one of the best.

“The focus is the get a place in the Manu Samoa team. There are some of the boys who had played for Manu Samoa.”

Junior Japan captain Taichi Mano said it was a tough match.

“It was a great come back for us,” he said.

“We will not go to the JWC (Junior World Cup) and it was a good experience for the squad.”
