FIJIAN boxer Samuela Naqari is determined to turn his preparation into a championship victory when he faces American fighter Joe Gordon for the WABA title at the main bout of ZEG Boxing Promotion next Saturday at Vodafone Arena in Suva.

The fight presents another opportunity for Naqari to test himself against overseas opposition, with the local boxer confident he can deliver when the title is on the line.

Naqari expects a competitive encounter against Gordon and says his main objective is to leave the ring with the championship.

“I am expecting a good fight because my opponent is from overseas. This will be my second overseas opponent, and my goal is to win this fight,” Naqari said.

The Fijian boxer said his preparation had been going well as he continued working towards the bout.

“I have been preparing well, and it will be a good fight,” he said.

With the contest scheduled as the main bout, Naqari will have the opportunity to showcase his ability in front of local boxing supporters while chasing the WABA crown.

He has also called on fans to turn out in numbers and support the promotion, hoping their presence will add to the atmosphere on fight night.

“I am calling on boxing fans and supporters to come out in numbers next Saturday and witness a great fight,” he said.

Meanwhile, Naqari’s title challenge is part of a wider card featuring local fighters matched against overseas opponents, giving them opportunities to compete against boxers from different countries.

Other local fighters on the card include Laite Nanovu, who is scheduled to face Indian boxer Aarti Hooda, while Watisoni Rokotuitoga will take on Rockanson Iga of Nauru.
