SAIMONI Rokotunidau, who is facing an attempted murder charge, will appear in the High Court in Suva on September 24 for a hearing on whether his bail should be revoked.
Mr Rokotunidau is accused of attempting to murder Police Constable Senoveva Tikoduadua, who was allegedly struck by a vehicle while manning a police checkpoint in Laqere, Nasinu, in April.
He also faces a charge of unlawful possession of 0.21 grams of methamphetamine.
Mr Rokotunidau pleaded not guilty to both charges before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere today.
His lawyer Jerry Dinati has been given until September 17 to file an affidavit explaining why Mr Rokotunidau failed to attend court on July 29.
The State has been given until September 22 to file its response.
Mr Rokotunidau was arrested on the morning of August 12 at a residence along Nasinu Road following the issuance of a bench warrant.
The accused is alleged to have been involved in the incident in which Constable Tikoduadua was struck by a vehicle.
Constable Tikoduadua is the daughter of Defence and Veterans Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua.
Senior Prosecutor Simione Seruvatu appeared for the State, while Mr Dinati appeared for Rokotunidau.
He was further remanded in custody.
