Snooker veteran Walter Robinson has set his eyes on the top prize for the upcoming 2024 Asia Regional Open Championship in Australia later this month.
Robinson, who has more than two decades of experience in the sport, is looking to reach the final of the tournament and bring the title back to the country.
“My target for this tournament is to reach the final and come out with a win,” he said.
“We haven’t had a snooker competition this year, but I have been preparing since last year for this tournament.”
Robinson is one of the three players selected to represent Fiji at the tournament which will be held at Mounties, Mt Pritchard Community Club from March 16-23.
Depark Ram and Sahil Prasad are the other two players selected by the Snooker Association of Fiji for the tournament.
“I’ve been in the sport for quite a long time, so I am confident in my experience to help me reach the finals,” Robinson said.
“This isn’t my first-time representing Fiji so I know what to expect when the tournament starts.”
The team is set to depart for Australia on Thursday, where they will feature in the tournament’s open grade division.
The winner of the open grade division will qualify for a two-year “Main Tour” spot with World Snooker.
“I’m very excited for this tournament because the prize for the winner in the open grade division is very appealing,” Robinson said.
