THREE men accused of violently attacking a Nadi taxidriver appeared before the Magistrate’s Court in Nadi yesterday facing aggravated robbery charges.

Serupepeli Bogisa, Livai Nakaua, and Iliesa Buku appeared before Magistrate Talei Kean to face one count each of aggravated robbery.

Police prosecutors allege that the trio jointly assaulted taxidriver Muni Sanjiv Mudaliar on August 25 in Nadi.

A video taken from the dashboard camera of the taxi showing two men allegedly involved in a robbery went viral after it was uploaded on social media.

During the brief court appearance, the police prosecutors strongly opposed bail for the accused persons because of the nature of the allegations and wider public interest.

Magistrate Kean ordered that all four be remanded in custody.

The matter has been transferred to the High Court in Lautoka and adjourned to September 11.
