The Fiji Roads Authority has confirmed the estimated timeframe for roadworks near Semo Village along the Queens Highway is approximately 15 weeks.

In response to questions on the issue, FRA stated in a statement that work would depend on the weather and the availability of the required materials.

A portion of the main highway at Semo Village collapsed on February 11 after heavy rain.

To facilitate ease of traffic flow, FRA established a temporary bypass.

“The works are currently in progress, and construction activities are ongoing,” FRA said in a statement.

“Any perceived delay is due to the complexity and sequencing of the construction stages required for the box culvert installation together with the availability of the construction materials.”

In response to questions regarding how much had been invested into the repair works, the authority stated works were still ongoing.

“The works primarily involve the survey, design and construction of a box culvert, along with associated road repair activities to restore and improve roadway stability and drainage,” the statement read.
