RATU Kadavulevu School (RKS) captain and point guard Opeti Ritova says he is grateful for the journey his team experienced at the 2026 Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championship, held yesterday at the Vodafone Arena.
RKS’ campaign came to an end after they were beaten 16–12 by Natabua High School in their final pool match.
Despite the disappointment of the defeat, Ritova reflected positively on the team’s efforts and the commitment they showed throughout their preparation for the championship.
“I want to thank God, for the journey where we would run up the hills for training,” Ritova said.
For the RKS captain, the opportunity to compete at the national secondary schools championship was the result of the hard work put in by the players leading into the tournament.
“I believe it was God’s calling for us to reach the pool game and make it this far,” he said.
As captain and point guard, Ritova carried an important responsibility on the court, helping organise the team and guide his teammates during their matches.
Although RKS fell short against Natabua, the four-point margin reflected a competitive final pool game, with both teams battling for an important result.
The experience also gave the RKS players an opportunity to test their skills against other schools and gain valuable exposure at the national level.
