STRATUM/PPCL Rewa FC will be aiming to move a step closer to claiming its 10th Battle of the Giants title when it takes on Nasinu FC in the second semi-final tomorrow.
The Delta Tigers topped Group B after securing six points from their three pool matches at Four R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba.
Rewa opened its campaign with a 2-0 victory over Khelvin Engineering Lautoka FC before producing a dominant display to defeat hosts Dayal’s Steel Ba FC 3-0.
Despite going down 0-1 to Tagimoucia Kava Nadi FC in its final pool match, Rewa had already done enough to secure top spot and book its place in the semi-finals.
Player-coach Ratu Tevita Waranivalu will be expecting an improved performance from his players when they face a determined Nasinu side.
Rewa enters the knockout stage with plenty of experience in its squad, with several players having featured in the OFC Men’s Champions League earlier this season, where the Delta Tigers reached the semi-finals.
The side will also draw confidence from its strong domestic campaign, finishing third in the Extra Premier League.
Nasinu, however, is expected to provide a stern challenge after qualifying for its first BOG semi-final since 2019.
The Giant Killers bounced back from an opening defeat to Extra Supermarket Labasa FC by recording consecutive victories over Blue Gas Navua FC and Global Care Suva FC.
Rewa, which has won the BOG title nine times, will be determined to add another championship to its proud history.
