Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew says there have been no reports of refusal to investigate drug-related incidents at any station or community post.
While addressing concerns surrounding the handling of drug-related cases at Raiwaqa Police Station in Suva, he assured that all reports are investigated thoroughly.
“We can confirm that all drug cases reported at Raiwaqa Police Station are attended to and investigated thoroughly,” he said.
Mr Chew said the police had established strict protocols and training for officers to ensure an effective response to drug incidents.
“Regular assessments and feedback mechanisms are in place to monitor the performance of police stations.
“Additionally, collaboration with community outreach programs helps raise awareness and encourages reporting of drug-related activities through community engagement.”
He said police officers have no authority to refuse investigations, including those involving drugs.
“We do not have the authority to refuse to investigate any reports lodged at the station, including drug cases.
“Our internal affairs unit acts as a watchdog to ensure that all systems and processes are followed diligently.”
However, he said, any complaints received would be investigated promptly.
“We appreciate the issues raised and concern for the effective service delivery and assure the public that we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of accountability and responsiveness.”
