THE official opening of the refurbished Ba Motor Parts Park in Namosau, Ba, has brought joy to local families, providing children with access to new slides and open recreational spaces.

While officiating at the opening ceremony, Minister for Housing and Local Government Maciu Nalumisa highlighted the importance of creating shared spaces where families can bond and unwind together.

Mr Nalumisa said modern parks must adopt an inclusive approach that caters to every generation within the household.

“We have a children’s park, but we keep on forgetting there is a need to also involve senior citizens because if we want to bring our families to the park on a Saturday, we have to bring the whole family,” he said.

“So we need to bring the parents, we need to bring their kids, and we also need to bring the grandparents.”

He praised public-private partnerships, commending corporate sponsor Ba Motor Parts for driving the $86,000 refurbishment project.

Mr Nalumisa also urged the public to take care of the facility.

“We should dispose of rubbish properly in the proper rubbish bins and take care of whatever facilities that we have here.”

Ba Motor Parts director Shanil Singh commended the Ba Town Council for working with the company to deliver the project.

“As we officially open this park, I encourage everyone to make the most of it,” Mr Singh said.

“Let us also remember our responsibility to care for and protect this project so that it remains a source of pride for our community.”
