THE Dynamic Reds women’s basketball side have retained their title once again in the 2026 Basketball Fiji Vodafone Cup championship for the women’s division after a 38-28 victory against the Kaunikula Royals yesterday.
It was a tight match at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva against the Kaunikuila Royals with the points being 15-15 in the second quarter.
The Dynamic Reds team captain Vika Kuboutawa said the team was told during the break to regroup and reflect on their mistakes which led to their victory.
“In the second quarter, on the bench, coach told us that we need to re-evaluate and reflect on our mistakes and work on it,” Kuboutawa said.
Kuboutawa added the victory was a result of their team dedication, commitment and sacrifice in the preparation to the Vodafone Cup championship.
With late evening trainings and Saturday clinics, the team’s victory was a reward for their hard work over the past weeks of preparation.
“We’ve always had training in the evening from 6pm till late.”
“Most of our young players are part of the Saturday clinics programme and it is great seeing them step up and play for the Dynamic Reds team.”
The championship provided crucial national-level exposure for the team’s developing players as she expressed how the team would continue its development.
Kuboutawa also acknowledged the supporters from the Raiwaqa community and overseas, which boosted the team’s performance for the competition.
“We are thankful to our supporters from the Raiwaqa community who turned out in numbers and also the supporters from overseas who have also been a strong source of encouragement to the team.”
