THE FIJI Water Flying Fijians have settled into preparations in Japan ahead of their Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup clash against Canada this weekend.
The national side has enjoyed favourable weather and a positive atmosphere in camp, with players eager to take the field on Saturday.
Centre Tuidraki Samusamuvodre said the team had completed another training session and was looking forward to the match.
“We’ve just finished our training session here in Japan. Good weather, amazing weather and atmosphere.
“The boys are looking forward to the game this week and we look forward to it,” he said.
Samusamuvodre also called on supporters in Fiji and Japan to get behind the team.
“We need your support from Fiji and those of you here in Japan. The boys need your support here in Japan,” he said.
Assistant coach Seremaia Bai said preparations had been positive, with strong team spirit building ahead of the match.
“Good preparation and good spirit in the team.
“It’s been great to be in Japan, the weather, the lovely culture and the people and we are looking forward to this weekend.
“We thank everyone for making us feel at home,” Bai said.
The Flying Fijians will face Canada at Hanazono Rugby Stadium, with kick-off at 7pm Fiji time.
Fiji enters the match as the defending Pacific Nations Cup champion and is chasing a third consecutive title.
The Canada match is another important step in Fiji’s bid to maintain dominance in the regional competition.
