The reopening of New Zealand’s international border will boost Fiji’s tourism recovery with many Kiwi tourists expected to return to our shores.

This, according to NZ High Commission first secretary administration and consul post security officer Jenny Du Toit.

“New Zealand is Fiji’s second largest tourist market, and it is great to see Kiwi tourists return to these beautiful shores, providing much needed economic injection to the tourism industry after a very difficult past couple of years,” she said.

Ms Du Toit said New Zealand’s border reopening would also reunite friends and relatives with their loved ones after two long years of border closures.

“We look forward to seeing more and more families reconnecting and also look forward to welcome recognised seasonal employer (RSE) workers quarantine-free from Fiji later this month.”

Ms Du Toit was also present at the Nadi International Airport to welcome the first Fiji Airways flight out of New Zealand, following the reopening of New Zealand’s international borders.

“It is a pleasure to be here at Nadi International Airport to welcome the first plane load of New Zealanders to Fiji.”
