Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women head coach Mosese Rauluni has emphasised the importance of developing young players and widening the team’s base as they prepare for the upcoming World Cup next year and the new Super W season.

Rauluni made these comments when asked about his view on the new young players being recruited in this Super W season.

“Going forward with the new team, you got to look at developing these young players and widening our base.

“We have World Cup next year and most of these players could appear in there,” Rauluni said.

With new players making their debut, Rauluni expressed optimism for their potential contribution to the team’s success.

Assessing the players’ performance weekly, Rauluni stressed the significance of showcasing talent, regardless of whether they perform consistently.

“We assess these girls every week, who truly want to showcase their talent whether they perform or not, we will decide at the end of the year whether we contract the girls or not for the next Super Rugby season,” Rauluni added.

Moving forward to tomorrow’s clash against the Western Force in Lautoka, Rauluni advised the young players that confidence building was a key focus, and he believed that playing correctly and avoiding penalties would be crucial for the team’s success.

“The girls to gain confidence, they will need to play right in their respective areas and avoid giving away penalties, we have to play right in our areas, avoid giving away penalties,” he added.

Rauluni’s vision of nurturing young talent and instilling confidence sets the stage for an exciting journey towards future triumphs.
