Feeding on the good old rivalry between Queensland and New South Wales, Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua women head coach Mosese Rauluni hopes they’ll get a huge support base during the Super W grand-final on Sunday.
The final is happening on a neutral ground with both teams’ visitors to Ballymore Stadium but, it’s more of an enemy territory for the NSW Waratahs side.
Playing an away final is not new for the Drua having done so successfully in the last two years however, Rauluni who was with the Reds last year hopes the people of Queensland will get behind them.
“A lot of the girls have experienced it twice before and for some its a new experience so, its a great occasion.
“I know the people of Queensland will come out and support us against the New South Wales team that we love to hate,” Rauluni joked.
The Fijian Drua got their biggest support in Suva during the semi-final with a crowd of 15,474 people cheering them on.
“The Suva support was outstanding, it was something we couldn’t believe, it was unbelievable for the girls to play in front of a crowd like that.
“We are in Brisbane so, its a Queensland and New South Wales rivalry so, hopefully the whole of Queensland will get out and support the Fiji team versus the great New South Wales team,” Rauluni added.
The team departed early as they couldn’t get seats on a weekend flight but, this has auger well for them.
“Getting our here early and doing our contact session here and our intensity training on Friday is good. The girls have settled well here we don’t have to think about flying before the captain’s run so, they’ll be well rested, well recovered for a great game on Sunday.”
Sunday’s game will kick-off at 4.30pm at Ballymore Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.
