The Rarawai Sugar Mill in Ba will officially end its 2026 crushing season next Wednesday, October 28, following an order issued by the Sugar Industry Tribunal.
Tribunal head Semi Leweniqila made the decision after consultations with the chief executives of the Sugar Cane Growers Council and the Fiji Sugar Corporation.
The tribunal directed the corporation to terminate crushing operations at Rarawai Mill on October 28.
The tribunal has urged all cane growers and harvesting gangs supplying the mill to make every effort to harvest and deliver their remaining sugarcane by Tuesday, October 27.
The directive gives farmers less than a week to complete harvesting and ensure their cane reaches the mill before operations cease.
The announcement marks the final stage of the crushing season for growers supplying Rarawai, with the tribunal emphasising the importance of delivering all available cane before the deadline.
The announcement follows an earlier order setting October 25 as the final crushing day for Lautoka Mill and November 6 for Labasa Mill.
