EMORI RAGATA will be one player who Suva will rely on to win the 2017 Vodafone Fiji FACT at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori from next Thursday.
The 29-year-old started playing for Labasa in 2009 and then joined the Capital City side in the following year. He returned to Labasa in 2013 before rejoining Suva.
“I helped Suva to win the 2012 Fiji FACT and Inter-District Championship in the same year where on both occasions we defeated the champion side Ba in the final,” he said.
“I still remember my first Fiji FACT win because it was a tough final with Ba putting a lot of pressure on our goalmouth.
“They had players such as Malakai Tiwa, Avinesh Waran Suwamy and Isimeli Naresia.
“Suwamy sent one powerful shot at the goalmouth from the free-kick, but it sailed over the crossbar.”
Goalkeeper Ragata is nicknamed “Spiderman” because of his daring and aerial saves infront of the goalmouth.
“The team is positive to win the tournament and the players are looking forward to the competition.
“I will try my best and will give my 100 per cent to win another tournament for Suva and the fans,” Ragata said.
“I thank the Almighty for giving me the strength and courage to play football.
“We have a lot of young players who are ready to go on to the field to play with a lot of passion and dedication, which will give us good competition.”
The Premier Distributors-sponsored Suva plays Rakiraki at 1pm.
