Education extends beyond traditional boundaries incorporating digital platforms, experiential learning and real-world applications, says Education Minister Aseri Radrodro.

Speaking at the launch of the School Employment Exposure Program at the Civic Centre in Suva recently, Mr Radrodro said the program had the potential to bridge existing gaps within the education sector.

“Today, we are here to celebrate and launch the Student Employment Exposure Program (SEEP) which I greatly acknowledge because of its immense potential in bridging the gap between the work environment and our education sector,” he said.

Mr Radrodro said the support of this initiative would connect young people for internships, apprenticeships and would bridge the gap for a seamless transition into the workforce.

“I am informed that a total of 31 Secondary Schools in the Central Division totalling 239 students from the district will be the first batch to initiate the program. Only a handful of 40 will start soon of which my ministry will also support through transport assistance for those using subsidized blue cards.”

He said in term two, the ministry would have the next roll in other secondary schools in the Central Division along with the schools in the Northern and Western divisions.

“Students being in any type of employment is not only about knowing it all but learning to be able to work with others, sharing the workload and above all have a teachable spirit so you can benefit from this program while on attachment at the organisation.”
