Former Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho has been given a fine of $1500 and ordered to pay the fine within 30 days.

If he defaults, he would serve a prison term.

Meanwhile, Mr Bainimarama was handed a non-custodial sentences with absolute discharge.

This means that Mr Bainimarama will not serve any prison term and has been discharged from any sentencing.

The former PM was found guilty of one count of attempt to pervert the course of justice while Mr Qiliho was found guilty of one count of abuse of office by the High Court.

Find out more about the case and the reactions to the sentencing in tomorrow’s The Fiji Times.
