The proposed One United Republican (OUR) Party has formally submitted its application for registration with the Fijian Elections Office (FEO).

Registrar of Political Parties Ana Mataiciwa confirmed receiving the application today, October 17, 2026.

Ms Mataiciwa said the FEO was preparing to publish the proposed party’s application in a newspaper and the Government Gazette, as required under the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013.

The publication will allow members of the public to lodge written objections against the proposed party’s registration.

“Following publication, any person may submit a written objection to the FEO regarding the proposed party’s application for registration during the objections period,” Ms Mataiciwa said.

“We will forward all objections within seven (7) days of receipt, to the proposed party to respond, and afterwards assess all responses and inform both the objectors and the proposed party of the decision.”

She said the proposed OUR Party would be informed whether its application had been approved or rejected after the completion of the objection and assessment process.

The final decision will follow a thorough compliance check to determine whether the proposed party meets all requirements under the Act.

The FEO stressed that transparency and public participation were essential components of the political party registration process.

It said the process was designed to ensure that proposed political parties complied with legal requirements while allowing members of the public to raise concerns before registration was granted.

The application does not mean the proposed OUR Party has been registered, as approval remains subject to the statutory assessment process.
