It is indeed a joyous day for the people of Vanua Levu as the Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere was officially inaugurated as Fiji’s sixth president today.

Taukei Namara Ratu Peni Sogia – who performed the installation of Ratu Wiliame as the Tui Macuata – has described the occasion as the turn of a new leaf for the vanua of not only Macuata but Cakaudrove and Bua as well.

“He represents the people of Vanua Levu and we only have God to thank for He has appointed Tuwili to that position,” Ratu Peni said.

“It is a great and joyful day for everyone in the North, in particular the people of Caumatalevu.”

Ratu Peni said a big celebration will be organised when Ratu Wiliame returns home for a short visit.
