The Fiji Police Force has confirmed that the body of a man found in Sigatoka this morning is that of a serving police officer.
In a statement, police said the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death are now under investigation.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death, with further details expected to be released once the examination is completed.
The Police has not said if the officer was on duty or not.
Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has extended the Fiji Police Force’s condolences to the officer’s family during what he described as a difficult time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
