More than $2000 worth of property was stolen after thieves allegedly broke into the Adi Shakti Nav Durga Mata Mandir on Kanace Rd in Valelevu on Monday afternoon.
Temple member Mohit Kumar said the incident allegedly occurred during the heavy downpour that day.
Mr Kumar said stolen items included a sound system speaker worth about $1600, a mixer and several tools used for building construction.
He alleged that thieves forced their way into the temple by breaking through interior walls, causing extensive damage to the building. The matter has been reported to the Valelevu Police Station for investigation.
