The Police Blues side lost their chance of defending their status as champions of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament after going down to DXC Barbarians 7-5 in the quarter-finals yesterday.
Head coach Sale Tubuna said while not being able to defend their title was disappointing, this was not the end for the side.
“This is not the end for Police Blues, we will be coming back stronger in the next Fiji Bitter 7s tournament,” he said.
“It’s disappointing that we were not able to move up to the semis, but that’s rugby and DXC Barbarians were the better team today.”
Tubuna said a few unwise on-field decisions led to their downfall.
“This along with other disciplinary issues as we kept on giving away penalties to our opponents which provided them with scoring opportunities.”
However, Tubuna said there was a lot of takeaways from the tournament as they looked forward to the rest of the Fiji Bitter 7s Series.
“The boys learned a lot from this tournament and we will be taking all these things into account as we prepare for the rest of the season.
“But for now, it’s back to our drawing board where we will go work on ourselves and come back stronger.”
In other quarter-final results, DXC Army Green defeated Freshet Navy 33-26, Dominion Brothers beat Tabadamu 15-14 while All Blacks won against Raiwasa Taveuni 5-0.
