Police have arrested a 38-year-old woman in Sakoca following the discovery of substances believed to be methamphetamine and marijuana.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu said the raid on the suspect’s home led to the discovery of a small clear zip-lock plastic containing white substance believed to be methamphetamine, and a small tin containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana, several mobile phones and cash.
In another drug related case, Mr Driu said a 35-year-old man was arrested at Nanuku Settlement after he was found with small clear zip-lock plastics containing white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.
He said the seized substance had been sent for analysis.
Meanwhile, a 52-year-old woman who was arrested on Thursday afternoon during clearance duties at the HFC Bank Stadium entrance has been released.
Mr Driu said while conducting clearance duties with officers from the Fiji Detector Dog Unit and Police Dog Unit, a small clear plastic containing white substances believed to be methamphetamine was discovered in the suspect’s bag.
The woman was released after a negative analysis result was received on the seized white substances.
Mr Driu said operations would be beefed up during the last two days of the games, focusing on ensuring the safety and security of athletes, students, supporters and those who genuinely want to enjoy the best of secondary school athletics.
