Police arrest four

FOUR people alleged to have unlawful possession of illicit drugs were arrested in Lautoka on Monday following a drug raid by the joint task force.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe said the joint task force conducted raids at Tavakubu and on Vio Rd, Lautoka on Monday.

During the first raid at Tavakubu, an 18-year-old student and a 24-year-old man were allegedly found in possession of white substances believed to be methamphetamine.

Both were taken into custody and the seized substances were sent for analysis.

In the second raid on Vio Rd, a 38-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were arrested after several plastics containing white substances believed to be illicit drugs were allegedly discovered.

Cash in local and foreign currencies believed to be the proceeds of crime were also seized.

Mr Vusonilawe said the success of the raids were the result of intelligence sharing and tips received from members of the public who are urged to report suspected drug-related activities through the toll-free number 1681.
