Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has praised civil servants as the frontline of national development during the official opening of the refurbished District Office in Nadarivatu.
He thanked public servants under his ministry and acknowledged local communities for supporting government workers serving in rural areas.
His visit to the Western Division coincided with work by the special parliamentary committee on the sugar industry, where members met communities to hear their concerns and experiences.
Mr Rabuka said Government leaders must accept appreciation and criticism while continuing to serve the people.
The upgraded facility, which includes the iTaukei Land Trust Board office, is expected to bring essential services closer to rural communities.
