LATUI rugby team head coach Senirusi Seruvakula said there was still room for improvement for their reps in the next three weeks camp.
“Some of the boys are really struggling in their fitness as you can see we had a physical training, it has been tough but there has been an improvement on the boys.
“We gave three more weeks of camp before our first game.
“One of the key areas that we are working on is our tackling skills, making some good tackle rather than giving the penalties away which are common with our local boys. It was tough, but this is one of the emphasis of the preparation is to work on our defence.
“As far as discipline is concerned, I did a presentation on what to expect during the season and discipline is one of key area — on and off the field and they know and understand. We will see how it goes when the competition begins.
They will take on China Lions on March 14 at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
Former Flying Fijian Asaeli Tikoirotuma and Australia-based star Teti Tela will be joining the Fijian Latui for the 2020 Global Rapid Rugby season.
Both will fly over this weekend and will join the squad when they march into camp tomorrow.
Coach Senirusi Seruvakula said Tela was going to be the first choice fly half as Caleb Muntz will be his backup.
For Tikoirotuma, this winger’s confidence grew as he joined the Super Rugby competition.
He scored four tries in a match against the Blues, joining a Super Rugby elite group of only ten other players to have achieved this, including former Chief, Sitiveni Sivivatu.
He played three ITM Cup seasons for Manawatu, aiding them to the final of the ITM Cup Championship in 2011 along with two Super Rugby titles with the Chiefs.
He won the Heartland Player of the Year in 2009 with Wanganui.
In June 2014, Tikorotuma announced he would be joining Harlequins after his involvement with the Chiefs was finished.
After only one season at the Harlequins he announced that he will leave and join London Irish from the beginning of the 2015 season and was included in Fiji’s 2015 RWC squad.
