THE Reddy Foundation has continued its decade-long support for the Fiji Cancer Society with a cash donation of $10,000.

Group director Kamini Reddy presented this year’s cheque to the Society chief executive officer Belinda Chan at the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka.

Speaking at the handover, Ms Chan said support from Tanoa Hotels and other donors had helped patients access life-saving treatment and extended screening services to remote communities.

Last year, the funding helped provide transport for Mere, a mother from Tailevu, to travel to Suva for chemotherapy.

“This year’s funding will support patient transport, palliative care and screening outreach in rural and maritime communities,” Ms Chan said.

“Cancer is not a distant issue; it is a reality that touches families across Fiji. Awareness, while vital, is only the beginning.

“Vinaka vakalevu to the Tanoa Group of Hotels for standing strong with us.”

The partnership, previously supported by Tanoa Hotels, now continues through the Reddy Foundation, established in 2015 to support health, poverty alleviation, education and disaster response across New Zealand and the South Pacific.

Ms Reddy said supporting the society and families affected by cancer remained a privilege.

“For the Reddy Group, Reddy Foundation and Tanoa Hotels, success is measured not by what is received, but by what is given,” she said.

“The partnership will continue for many more years.”

According to the Society breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women in Fiji.

Of the 1314 patients registered with the organisation over the past three years, 341 had breast cancer. Since January, 217 new cases have been recorded.
