Plans have unfolded for pine harvesting to take place in outer islands this year under the banner of Fiji Pine Ltd.

The company’s executive chairman Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure said they would partner with the Ministry of Forestry for this harvesting program.

“We are also partnering with the Government through the Ministry of Forest to begin harvesting in the maritime islands,” he said.

“We expect to receive logs from Kadavu at the beginning of the second quarter this year and expand to other islands where there are pine schemes supported by the Ministry of Forestry through the extension services of the Fiji Pine Trust.”

Ratu Rakuita said Fiji Pine continued to be a pillar of economic development in the rural communities of Fiji.

“We take our social responsibilities seriously and being a good corporate citizen.”
