A petition has been issued in Labasa to stop the development of the $10 million proposed 40-room hotel in Labasa.

Labasa Town Council chair Paul Jaduram said the petition was being signed by the ratepayers.

“We are trying to facilitate the request of the ratepayers,” he said.

Mr Jaduram told the Fiji Times that he does not hold any grudges against the businessman proposed to carry out the development.

“Nor, I am pointing fingers at him,” he said.

However, he said the development must be done correctly.

“As a chair, I look at everybody the same,” he said.

He said he would present the petition to relevant authorities and leave it to them to do the right thing.
