Likemost people, she was once driven by the pursuit of financial security and material comfort.
But Ragni Devi Dasi’s life took an unexpected turn when she discovered that wealth alone could not provide lasting happiness.
After years of working in restaurants and garment factories in the province of Nadroga, earning a decent income but struggling with stress and dissatisfaction, she began searching for a deeper purpose in life.
Her spiritual journey led her to the Hare Krishna movement, where she found the peace and fulfilment she had long been seeking.
“I left behind the desire for worldly pleasures and material possessions and dedicated my life to serving God and humanity at the Sri Sri Radha Damodar Temple in Sigatoka,” Ragni Desi said.
Today, Ragni Dasi’s days revolve around prayer, meditation, scripture study, and community service.
Usually dressed modestly in traditional Hare Krishna attire, she embodies the principles of humility, and selfless service.
“As a servant of the Lord Krishna, my daily assignments are aimed at seeking a closer connection with Lord Krishna,” she said.
“I believe that true happiness comes not from acquiring more, but from surrendering to a higher purpose.”
A significant part of her daily spiritual discipline includes chanting the Hare Krishna mantra, using sacred Tulsi beads.
This routine, combined with fasting and temple service, reflects her commitment to a life centred on faith.
“Fulfilment of life is not found in luxury but in spiritual devotion, inner peace, and serving others” she said.
Ragni Dasi’s transformation serves as an inspiring example of choosing purpose in a world where, for most people, materialism dominates modern aspirations.
