It was about family.
What started in 2023 as just setting tables for dinner, birthdays and church meetings has transitioned into Rosa Ramuadrau’s Catering Services.
The Labasa based business, now in its third year of operation, has already served over a hundred organisations and families across Vanua Levu.
“It started with the passion I have for cooking, at home,” said the mother of three from Kilaka, Kubulau, Bua.
“My family saw that I had the talent and encouraged me to start a business. It took us awhile; we prayed about it.”
Today, Rosa’s Catering Services provides full catering services and packed meal deliveries across Labasa, with orders coming as far as Savusavu.
Mrs Ramuadrau believes that success isn’t just measured via the number of clients.
“I have been able to provide employment for my sisters from the village, buying their crops and vegetables from families in Bua,” she said.
“Dalo, chillies, seafood, cassava, moca, fish, we try to buy from them every now and then.”
“While we support our family, we also know that these are fresh and safe produce for our clients.”
Mrs Ramuadrau says the journey has not been without its challenges, but a shared sense of purpose and passion have kept the team moving forward.
“We have faced a few challenges, but we overcame them through teamwork, dedication, and commitment.
“The staff understand their purpose — why they do what they do and who they do it for.”
She credits her husband, Sisa Ramuadrau and her three children, Siteri Ramua, Ilaitia Erene, and Sireli Maqala, and daughter-in-law, Akosita Ratukadreu-Erene for their support through late-night shopping, deliveries, and admin work.
“I truly couldn’t have done it without their encouragement, patience, and willingness to lend a hand whenever it was needed.”
“I see it as a blessing, to be able to run this business and at the same time, help my families at home.”
Her comment to those still starting out is: “Stay committed to your vision, work hard, and never lose sight of your ‘why’. Build a team that shares your values.
“Success doesn’t happen overnight, but with passion, consistency, and dedication, you will earn the trust of your clients.”
