Work on the long-awaited Sukuna Park, located in the centre of the Capital, is scheduled to be completed by the end of the month.

The Sukuna Park revamp project was launched in November 2020 by former local government minister Premila Kumar, but actual work began in September, 2021.

Suva City Council Special Administrators chairman Tevita Boseiwaqa said they were looking forward for the completion of the project.

“I’m talking about the completion, not the opening,” he said.

“But as far as the work is concerned, it’s in progress.

“When it was dry weather a few days back, they (workers) were really fast. Now the bad weather has affected their work.

“But we are not changing the schedule. We have to complete it by the end of this month.”

He said after the opening of the park, people of Suva would be able to expect a more relaxed environment than before.

“People can expect something different.

“Psychologically, when you see something beautiful, not only do you feel relaxed, you’ll become happy.

“That’s what Sukuna Park will be all about – beautiful and a place to enjoy and relax.”

Mr Boseiwaqa said they were also looking at some new projects.

“It’s in the pipeline and I don’t want to share it now. Once we are on it, I’ll reveal it.”
