Suva City Council chairman and acting CEO Tevita Boseiwaqa says clean-up is underway to restore the grounds at Albert Park.
Workers were deployed yesterday morning following the large amount of rubbish left at the venue after the Hibiscus event.
Mr Boseiwaqa said council teams were focused on clearing waste, including plastic bottles, food packaging and decorations, and rehabilitating affected grassed areas.
He said additional trucks and manpower had been assigned to speed up the work and ensure the park is returned to a clean and safe condition for public use.
The council is urging the public to avoid littering and to take responsibility for rubbish during major events.
Mr Boseiwaqa added that restoration was expected to continue over the next few days until the grounds are fully restored.
