THE Nawaibuta Holdings Northland Rugby will draw strength from its supporters and strong team culture when it hosts Ram Sami Nasinu in a do-or-die Vodafone Vanua Championship playoff match at Dawasamu Secondary School Ground today.
Team manager Veremo Muria said camp preparations at Nailega Village in Tailevu had played a major role in strengthening team unity ahead of the high-stakes encounter.
“Camp has made a significant difference to our preparation. It has strengthened team unity and created an environment where players support one another both on and off the field,” Muria said.
Muria stressed that Northland’s success this season has been built on collective effort rather than individual brilliance.
“Our emphasis is always on the team rather than individuals. Success comes from collective effort, and the result belongs to the entire squad, management and supporters.”
The side enters the clash with a healthy 30-member extended squad and no major injury concerns, giving selectors confidence heading into what is expected to be a demanding contest.
While acknowledging Nasinu’s physical and structured style of rugby, Muria said Northland’s biggest advantage lies in the work completed behind the scenes.
Playing at home is another factor Northland hopes will work in its favour.
“We know our supporters will come out in numbers, and their presence gives the team tremendous motivation.”
Muria has called on Northland fans to rally behind the team as they continue their push for promotion.
“Hosting a playoff match is a special occasion, and we want our supporters to be part of the journey.
“The players are ready, the coaches are ready, and now we need the Vanua and our supporters to rally behind Northland Rugby.”
The Vualiku kei Tailevu rugby side will meet Nasinu at 3pm today.
