Pine production up North dropped over the past two months.

Fiji Pine Group of Companies’ North operations manager Maniata Tasere said the dry weather had presented significant challenges to their operations.

“This has had an adverse impact on production,” Mr Tasere said.

In response, Fiji Pine Group of Companies chair Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure attributed the production problems to climate change. He said the company needed to adapt its operations to seasonal weather patterns.

“We have to adjust our operations according to the weather,” Ratu Rakuita said.

“When the weather is favourable, we can increase our production.”

Ratu Rakuita said this underscored the importance of flexibility and adaptation in overcoming production challenges in the pine industry.
