Today marked the official beginning of a new era for the two political parties – the National Federation Party and The People’s Alliance Party – after they signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together post-election.

NFP leader Professor Biman Prasad said the two parties were Fiji’s oldest and youngest.

“We combine the long experience of political activism and striving for the rights of the people with the enthusiasm and energy of the new,” Mr Prasad said.

The People’s Alliance Party leader Sitiveni Rabuka said the entire country knew by now that the People’s Alliance and the NFP had reached an agreement to work together.

He said the MoU underscored the vast differences between the two parties and the two people controlling the Government.

“We are now committed to working together to advance the well-being and aspirations of the people. We have a basis for co-operation through combining thoughts, ideas and talents to give Fiji the best outcomes,” Mr Rabuka said.
