THE Fijian Drua Women have secured a major boost ahead of the 2026 season after global restaurant giant McDonald’s Fiji was officially announced as the naming rights sponsor for the women’s side yesterday.
The announcement was jointly made by the Drua and McDonald’s Fiji management at the Drua Home Base in Nadi, where the club also unveiled the team’s new kit for the 2026 Super Rugby Women’s season.
The partnership will now see the side officially known as the McDonald’s Fiji Drua Women, with the iconic golden arches taking pride of place on the front of the team jersey, training gear and related apparel.
The sponsorship replaces previous naming rights partner Rooster Chicken Fiji, who will continue to remain part of the Drua sponsorship Vuvale.
DRUA CEO Jeff Miller described the sponsorship as one of the biggest milestones for the women’s programme.
“This is one of the most important announcements for our Fijian Drua Women’s team. To have the world’s most iconic restaurant brand as our Naming Rights Sponsors speaks loudly of the popularity and appeal of the Fijian Drua Women. We are now very proudly the McDonald’s Fiji Drua Women.
“We thank the McDonald’s Fiji team for extending their sponsorship of the Fijian Drua, which was already quite substantive, to now taking over the naming rights of the Women’s team. This is wonderful acknowledge of the power and appeal of women’s rugby in Fiji. Through their support, we are confident of growing the women’s game and offer genuine options to young girls pursuing a career as professional rugby players.”
Miller added that the players and management were excited to represent such a globally recognised brand.
McDonald’s Fiji Operations Manager Nazlan Jaleel said the partnership was about more than branding.
“It’s about more than sponsorship, it’s about supporting a team that brings people together and inspires young women across the country.”
