Newcastle Knights under-20 player Tevita Toloi says his call-up into the Vodafone Fiji Bati side is “surreal” and he hopes to make the most of his time with the team at Rugby League World Cup here in England.

The 20-year-old forward is an injury replacement and his selection could surely be something to do with his size and mobility.

“Both my parents are from Fiji. My dad is from Macuata and my mum is from Tailevu,” he said.

“It (selection) means a lot to me. It is like something that you dream of.

“It was surreal when I got the call-up. It’s awesome that I get to experience this and just to be around these boys.”

Toloi will be hoping that the Bati can overcome Italy this weekend in Newcastle to have any chance of progressing past the pool stages.
